JUNE 4TH 2010.
Please note the following change to the Yonkers-Cross County bus pick up. We will also mail this information to you with a map, please share the new directions with your friends as well. See you all soon at camp- Thank you.
New Cross County Shopping Center (Yonkers) bus map and directions.
For any families using our bus pick up from Yonkers-Cross County Shopping center please disregard the previous bus location map we sent out. The shopping center has construction happening behind Macy’s where we usually meet you. The new location is at the rear of the “Stop and Shop” front parking lot (nearest to Vredenburgh Avenue). The best way to get there is:
Heading North on I-87 (Governor Dewey Thruway), take exit 3, stay on service road for a short distance to first light and turn right onto “Mile Square Road”, this intersects “Vredenburgh Avenue” turn left onto “Vredenburgh Avenue”, pass a gas station on your left and then look on your left for a large green “Cross County Center” billboard, turn left here onto “Xavier Drive” , the bus is on your right , enter the “Stop and Shop” parking lot on your right and drive away from the shops entrance to the back of the parking lot to meet us. The 3 busses say “Vanderhoof” on the side.
Heading South on I-87 (Governor Dewey Thruway), take exit 4 and stay on the service road until the first light, turn left on “Mile Square Road” through an underpass (I-87 will be above you)on your left, continue straight through the lights on “Mile Square Road”, it will bear to the right and then intersects “Vredenburgh Avenue” turn left onto “Vredenburgh Avenue”, pass a gas station on your left and then look on your left for a large green “Cross County Center” billboard, turn left here onto “Xavier Drive”, the bus is on your right , enter the stop and shop parking lot on your right and drive away from the shops entrance to the back of the parking lot to meet us. The 3 busses say “Vanderhoof” on the side.
To use your GPS to get to the I-87 exits, the address for Stop and Shop is:
Super Stop and Shop, 111 Vredenburgh Avenue, Yonkers, 10704. Please be aware though YOUR GPS WILL not take you exactly to Stop and Shop, but it will get you to the Cross County exits, 3 or 4. After that use our directions please.
May 21st 2010
We hope you are all as excited about camp as we are, only 5 short weeks to go. We have now hired a fantastic friendly and talented staff who cannot wait to meet you. We have completed major renovations of the Upper Sunrise's and Herm's 3 and 4, we believe you are going to love how they look and feel. We were going to have some Alpacha's at camp this summer but it now looks like we are unable to make this happen. The new high ropes course is finished and is a fabulous exciting addition for all our campers. It has a 350 feet zip line with a 50ft elevation drop. The course is challenging, thrilling, fun and a little scary. The show choices for this summer we think are the best collection we have ever done in one summer. So camp looks great, were excited and you are the best campers in the world, what's not to love, see you soon. Geoff. long lake camp.
Some high ropes pictures. Lee and Graham having some fun.

April 15th, shows update.
We are in the process of securing the drama rights for our 2010 shows. Here are some we are considering, we have not set which session they shall be.
Shows for 2010: Urinetown, Rent, Fame, Drowsy Chaparone, 13, Brighton Beach, Crucible and All my sons. Above are a small selection of our show choices for 2010. More are to follow.

Hi Ya Everyone,
Just spent the February break up at camp with Ryan and thought I would share these with you.
The camp looks sooooo beautiful in the snow.
This of course is out on the lake.
My friend and our Head of Maintenance Richard checking on his ice fishing "tip ups".
That's my new sled (snowmobile) in front. Notice too that he has his pick-up truck ON THE LAKE. We were racing up the lake to get here.
Back at camp I wanted to show you how the Boys Bunks are coming along. Do they not look great!!! This is how 3 and 4 look.
Cedar lined new bathrooms too starting next week. We also just finished renovating just like this all of Upper Sunrise
with new insides and brand new Cedar Bathrooms.
Ice fishing was fun. Here is Ryan drilling a hole in to the 16 inch thick ice on the lake
.
My friends and I gathering around a fishing hole on the lake Kyle, his son Mathew, Me, Ryan and Eddie.
.
Could not resist showing you one more time my new sled. 120 MPH. I guess the camp looks OK too but the sled beautifullll.
Ryan had his first trip driving a snowmobile on his own (following me). It was very exciting for him and he did a great job. I did not tell him before that
my maiden voyage on a sled when I was his age turned out bad with me flipping it over. Fortunately he is much more careful at his age that I was.
Notice the front of the infirmary where we stay during the winter. Decked out in Winter mode with rocking chairs, fire pit in front.

Speaking of the infirmary- here it is in its winter mode.
Our new truck in front of (Harry's place) makes life so much easier for us at camp in the winter. Yesterday if you were looking at the webcam you saw this truck
go by about 50 times and we are placing new beautiful beach sand on our beach for you.
Our goal is to make the beach and shallow area a more perfect place to play in the water.
Richard drives the truck loaded with new sand around Lakeside and onto the lake. He drives along the lake to the beach and dumps the sand on top of the ice
where it will fall onto the beach in the spring.
Campers will have soft white beach sand to play beach volleyball and great new material for all their sculptures and drawings in sand.
Our weavers on the beach will now have soft sand between their toes too
Richard plowed a large section in front of camp down to the ice and I thought what a wonderful thing to ice skate in front of camp during the winter.
One of those activities I would like to do if and when Zoë gets her way and starts a winter camp on 3 day weekends and Winter breaks.
Would anyone like to go up to camp with other Long Lakers and partake in winter fun during the day and create in music, dance, drama and art with each other in the evenings?
Hope you all are keeping up with Long Lake friends. Hope to see you soon at camp.
Much in store for this summer. New things going on to make Long Lake Camp For The Arts even more exciting for all of you. Susan and I know you are looking forward to this summer and we spend everyday planning, building and making Long Lake the very best it can be for you!
Love always,
Marc
